The Obamas At Their First Official White House State Dinner

First Lady Michelle Obama looked ravishing in a custom made Naeem Khan ivory strapless gown at her first official White House State Dinner last night. (Naeem Khan, a talented Indian-American man, has then in turn become THE most talked about designer in the fashion world.) The event honored India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur.

Khan, who appeared on Larry King Live last night, said the First Lady requested a custom dress that was “Indian, chic, simple, but very glamorous.” Instyle

First Grandmother Marian Robinson joined her son-in-law Barack, daughter Michelle and granddaughters Sasha and Malia at Martha’s Table where they packed food for 130 families for Thanksgiving on Wednesday. The family donated turkey and their time towards the non-profit organization.

President Obama and the first family pushed volunteerism first-hand Wednesday, stopping by Martha’s Table to hand out bags of turkeys, stuffing and other Thanksgiving favorites to more than 130 families.
Obama’s two daughters, first lady Michelle Obama and her mother, Marian Robinson, worked alongside the president, putting canned food, stuffing and fresh vegetables into bags. The president’s mother-in-law also handed out bags with frozen turkeys.

“Everything is harder and with what the country’s going through right now, we just have a lot more people experiencing those issues,” said Lindsey Buss, the president of Martha’s Table, Inc.

President Obama personally endorsed the organization and its work while pardoning a turkey at the White House on Wednesday.

The family donated two turkeys to “Martha’s Table, an organization that does extraordinary work to help folks here in D.C. who need it the most,” Obama said. ABC7NEWS

“Thanks to the interventions of Malia and Sasha — because I was planning to eat this sucker — Courage will also be spared this terrible and delicious fate,” he [President Obama] said.
