Liya Kebede’s Vogue April 2011 Editorial + Her LemLem Style Buzz
Ethiopian model Liya Kebede, star of Desert Flower, pose with her husband Kassy Kebede, son Suhul and daughter Raee for the Arthur Elgort-photographed “Across The Aisle” editorial which appeared in the U.S. Vogue 2011 edition. The last time FG2BH featured Liya and her family was when they attended New York Fashion Week this past July. You have to admire how Liya is juggling motherhood and her career. For her Vogue editorial, Liya shared with readers how her wedding day went.
“The most memorable part of our weding,” says model Liya Kebede, “is that our son, a year and a half old at the time, was our ring bearer! I wish our daughter could have been there, too!”

In related news, Liya used her celebrity platform to promote her womenswear, childrenswear and accessories line, LemLem, which she launched in 2007. Her womenswear, childrenswear and accessories line is handcrafted exclusively in Ethiopia! Liya created the line to provide jobs to her fellow Ethiopian countrymen. LemLem in the Amharic dialect means to flourish or bloom! The proud mohter of two was photographed on three specific occasions in her ready to wear collection. Let’s take a brief look back at each time she was seen in LemLem.
For her Fashion’s Night Out 2010 appearance at Barney’s New York, Liya wore a navy and white striped handwoven Elsa Smock shirt.
Last May at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival Liya was spotted in another striped look from LemLem. This time Liya was seen in this “Lucy Patio” low-cut v-neck kimono-like dress.
Way a great way to market your empire, Liya!
