Check out these adorable family portraits of Ghanaian two-time African Movie Academy nominated actor Van Vicker with his wife Adjoa alongside their children – daughters J’dyl & J-ian and son VJ.

The first image of seven-month-old Lou Sulola Samuel (daughter of model/Project Runway creator Heidi Klum and soul singer Seal) was revealed today on Seal’s official website. Heidi and Seal both took portraits with their baby girl and Heidi pose with her three other children – Leni, 5, Johan, 2, and Henry, 4.

In related news, Seal has announced that he wants to adopt Leni and become her legal guardian. (Heidi had her first child back in 2005 with Formula 1 boss Flavio Briatore.)

Heidi, the now proud mother of four, left the following message tagged with the photos…

“It’s difficult to imagine loving another child as much as you love your existing children. Anyone who has a family will tell you this. Where will one find that extra love? If you love your existing children with all of your heart, how then can one possibly find more heart with which to love another?

“On Friday October ninth 2009 at 7:46pm, the answer to this question came in the form of our fourth child and second daughter. Lou Sulola was born and from the moment she looked into both of our eyes it was endless love at first sight. She is beautiful beyond words and we are happy that she chose us to watch her grow over the coming years.”

British-based actors Chiwetel Ejiofor and Thandie Newton attended the Los Angeles premiere of their new film, 2012 earlier this month. Chiwetel (a two-time Golden Globes nominee) portrays Adrian Helmsley and Thandie (a BAFTA Award winner) acts as Laura Wilson in the epic thriller about the heroic survivors who endured the world coming to an end in 2012.  The Roland Emmerich-directed film opened at the number one spot in the box office and went on to earn $225 million worldwide and $65 million domestically! (Hmm..I have yet to see this film as the plot about the apocalypse seems sort of played out in Hollywood. I did however saw This Is It but that’s for another blog post.) Maybe these two should appear in Half Of A Yellow Sun?? JUST A THOUGHT!)

Empire magazine interview Chiwetel and Thandie who both talked about where and what they hope they’ll be doing by 2012. The publication called Chiwetel – Britain’s best kept secret! <-Cosign that sentiment! Thandie showed off a bit of her funny side as she imitated her 2012 co-star Danny Glover (pictured with Chiwetel in the above photo collage).

Next up for the Zimbabwean-British actress Thandie are two films, Huge and Vanishing On 7th Street. 2010 would be Chiwetel’s year to shine as he has five films -plus a co-starring role alongside Angelina Jolie- due out according to his IMDB page.

First Lady Michelle Obama looked ravishing in a custom made Naeem Khan ivory strapless gown at her first official White House State Dinner last night. (Naeem Khan, a talented Indian-American man, has then in turn become THE most talked about designer in the fashion world.) The event honored India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur.

Khan, who appeared on Larry King Live last night, said the First Lady requested a custom dress that was “Indian, chic, simple, but very glamorous.” Instyle

President Barack Obama naturally treats his wife as though she’s the only woman in the room. Look at how he’s looking at her! Can you blame him??? I can easily see why the Obamas have their own PDA section via The Huffington Post. <-Yes you read that correctly.

First Grandmother Marian Robinson joined her son-in-law Barack, daughter Michelle and granddaughters Sasha and Malia at Martha’s Table where they packed food for 130 families for Thanksgiving on Wednesday. The family donated turkey and their time towards the non-profit organization.

President Obama and the first family pushed volunteerism first-hand Wednesday, stopping by Martha’s Table to hand out bags of turkeys, stuffing and other Thanksgiving favorites to more than 130 families.
Obama’s two daughters, first lady Michelle Obama and her mother, Marian Robinson, worked alongside the president, putting canned food, stuffing and fresh vegetables into bags. The president’s mother-in-law also handed out bags with frozen turkeys.

“Everything is harder and with what the country’s going through right now, we just have a lot more people experiencing those issues,” said Lindsey Buss, the president of Martha’s Table, Inc.

President Obama personally endorsed the organization and its work while pardoning a turkey at the White House on Wednesday.

The family donated two turkeys to “Martha’s Table, an organization that does extraordinary work to help folks here in D.C. who need it the most,” Obama said. ABC7NEWS

Great to see The Obamas doing volunteer work together! President Obama pardon a turkey that he called Courage and he credited his daughters for doing so. It’s a funny speech he gave…

“Thanks to the interventions of Malia and Sasha — because I was planning to eat this sucker — Courage will also be spared this terrible and delicious fate,” he [President Obama] said.

Hope Olaide Wilson had her mother as her red carpet date at the 17th Annual Diversity Awards Gala. Wilson rock a white peplum dress seen on Mary J Blige and Rihanna. Wilson walked away with a well deserved award for her feature role in Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself.  Next up for Hope is a role in the film Girl Solider. According to a recent interview with Eliza magazine, Hope wants to launch a production company soon to highlight her West African roots. “In so many ways, we’re isolated from one another,” she says. “I really hope to contribute toward helping all of us realize how much we have in common.” Keep making us proud, Hope!

In a strapless Rachel Roy creation Oluchi Onweagba Orlandi stood confidently tall as she attended the CFDA Vogue Fashion Awards. The event was held in Oluchi’s current place of residence – New York City. Unfortunately Oluchi only pose for one red carpet photo in her monochromatic outfit.

As these recent photos of Kenzo Lee Hounsou shows he got his looks from his famous parents Djimon Hounsou and Kimora Lee Simmons. What a handsome little fella that they have!

Kenzo was accompanied by his sisters Aoki Lee and Ming Lee out to the Cross Creek Park in Malibu this past Sunday. The sole son to the Hounsou-Lee family has already gotten a taste of celebdom via his taped appearance on his mother’s reality show AND his first Baby Phat runway finale gig.

After keeping her fans waiting since the 2000 release of her sixth album, Lovers Rock, Helen Folasade Adu has announced plans to launch her new music project, Solider of Love (with her band SADE) on February 8, 2010 off her label home Epic Records!

 As a gift to her fans, Sade also release the album cover which depicts her staring out to the world with her back to the camera. (Will this album cover set the tone of her music or is a preview of what her new image would be??? So many questions to ask!!! 9 years has it been since Lovers Rock dropped.)

Sade and her group mates Stuart Matthewman, Paul Spencer Denmann and Andrew Hale recorded six albums which sold over 50 million worldwide since 1984’s Diamond Life. They had hit songs with Smooth Operator, By Your Side, No Ordinary Love, The Sweetest Taboo, and counting. Pretty impressive, isn’t it?

Sade’s music has become ideal for smooth jazz/quiet storm R&B radio stations, that age old baby making process, and romantic couples. Below is my current favorite Sade song (as my fave Sade track changes day by day, lol!)

Dancer and friend to FG2BH Celestina performed alongside Jennifer Lopez’s much-hyped comeback performance* of her current single -Louboutins- at the 2009 American Music Awards. Oscar-winning actress and Grammy Award winning songbird Jennifer Hudson has been announced to portray former South Africa first lady Winnie Mandela in the upcoming Darrell J. Roodt-directed project, Winnie Mandela: A Life.

FYI: Winnie Mandela was also wife of former South Africa’s first black president Nelson Mandela. Production (starting May 30, 2010) will be done in key South African locations – Johannesburg, Capt Town, Transkei and Robben Island. Jennifer has since spoke about her coveted role.

“I was compelled and moved when I read the script,” Hudson said. “Winnie Mandela is a complex and extraordinary woman and I’m honored to be the actress asked to portray her. This is a powerful part of history that should be told.” VARIETY

Congrats to Mis Hudson for snagging such a prestigious role! I’m curious to see how JHud would pull off portraying Winnie who tirelessly support her husband’s fight against apartheid and his subsequent release from jail at Robben Island for over 27 years.

Fellow Oscar winner Morgan Freeman has been announced to portray Nelson Mandela in the Clint Eastwood-directed film, Invictus. The Daily Mail has release photos of Freeman as Mandela (and judging from the photos he definitely looks the part!) Freeman already proved he has the acting chops thanks to his vast film career choices. That’s Matt Damon as South African rugby captain Francois Pienaar.

South Africa has become a hot commodity in Hollywood as Oprah Winfrey opened her all female school – Leadership Academy Foundation, HBO release The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, and now it has become the location of 2 Winnie Mandela biopics. South Africa’s getting its due shine!

As previously reported Oscar-nominated actress Sophie Okonedo can be seen next as Winnie Mandela in the BBC drama, Mrs. Mandela.
