President-Elect Barack Obama and his wife Michelle share the dual January 2009 cover edition of Essence magazine. The historical newsstand covers were done in celebration of what the Obama victory meant.

From newsstand cover to the next, The New Yorker placed Barack Obama on its December 8, 2008 cover page via a satire at his dog pick for his daughters Malia and Sasha. The cover illustration was done by cartoonist Barry Blitt.
