Essence Celebrates Wedded Bliss

August 21, 2009

One of America’s leading urban publication ESSENCE recently celebrated (via their official website) the wedded bliss of two Nigerian/Ghanaian couples. Nana and Akinola’s wedding theme inspiration came directly from Eddie Murphy’s cult classic film, “Coming to America” while Dane and Dolapo had many outfit changes to suit their mutlicultural backgrounds.

Nana and Akinola

Ghanaian Nana Eyeson and Nigerian Akinola Akiwowo became husband and wife after just under two years of dating on July 18, 2009, at 6:00 P.M. The couple jumped the broom at the urban chic Mezzanine in Newark, New Jersey. [ESSENCE]

UPDATED TO INCLUDE: Nana and Akinola also appeared on the hit TLC series, Masters of Reception. Thanks NAIJAGAL!

Dane and Dolapo

Nigerian Oludolapo “Dolapo” Olomo, 26, and Trinidadian Dane-Brandon Sookram, 28, became husband and wife at the Rose Castle in Brooklyn, New York, on November 28, 2008, after dating for eight years.[ESSENCE]

On a side note, I can’t talk about weddings without mentioning this famous YouTube clip that the blogosphere simply can’t get enough of. Chris Brown’s song “Forever” suddenly has a new lifeline, huh?

This wedding dance done by Uche and Soyingbe takes the cake! (They totally played into their inner child.)

Feels Good 2 B Home extends our warm wishes to both couples!
