FG2BH Buzz: Estelle’s Gap AD + Wale’s new Rihanna Song
Favorite to FG2BH ESTELLE celebrated the 40th anniversary of popular US-based retail chain GAP with a 2009 Holiday print AD campaign as spotted first by Concrete Loop.
According to Estelle’s recent tweet, the laidback snapshot was done by Daniel Jackson for GAP Japan. Truth be told GAP always seem to have the best print AD campaigns as you can see for yourself. In the past GAP has used celebrity endorsements from Seal, Liya Kebede, Common, Jennifer Hudson, Ciara, Chanel Iman, Madonna, Missy Elliott, Terrence Howard, Nate Parker, Zoe Saldana, and Wycelf Jean.
…Did you notice Estelle’s tribute to Smooth Criminal via that hat? On the music tip ESTELLE has been working hard on her follow-up to 2008’s US debut record, SHINE which is expected early 2010.
WALE collaborated with RIHANNA on his new single CONTEMPLATE which features the 2007 Good Girl Gone Bad track, QUESTION EXISTING. He’s definitely made a track recorded two-three years ago hotter.
The track hit the blogosphere back in August 2009 and the full-length track was released yesterday. The song was produced by Sycience and it’ll appear on Wale’s upcoming debut record Attention: Deficit.
I personally think that WALE has a great flow and Rihanna’s vocals gives it that gritty flavor. WALE has become of one of FG2BH’s favorite emcees…thanks in part to this gig.
For his album cover Wale decided to feature a younger him (my assumption, of course) with his backpack and oversize headphones on. The younger version of him can be seen in front of a TV shop sort like this. Going by this album cover, Wale always had a love for music. Nice cover concept!
