Sade Bites Back At Her UK Music Critics Via Her Pride Magazine Interview

March 19, 2010

Jawn Murray of BV Buzz recently reported on a feud Sade has with her critics in the UK music scene. For her Pride magazine interview, Sade addressed the naysayers claiming she “can’t sing.”

Sade Bites Back At Her UK Music Critics

“It can be very hostile in England ā€“ not just to me, to everybody. England’s like a sour old auntie. You go and stay with her although she criticizes you all the time and doesn’t treat you right, even when you’re doing your best. But you keep on loving her, in a certain way. And then you die. Those bitches always outlive you!” via Jawn Murray/BV Buzz & Pride

If Sade cannot sing then someone kindly explain why her group’s long-awaited album Solider of Love held the number one spot for two consecutive weeks???

Things that make me go hmm….

if sade can’t sing, why has she been around for over 20 years? if sade can’t sing, why is it that every album she drops after long absences always manages to catch fire and burn through the charts? her voice in unmistakable, the likes of rihanna, beyonce, ciara can ONLY hope to be anything like her, talented, graceful, beautiful, mysterious, classy and sexy. does who can’t do, criticize. sade, rock on sis and don’t give ’em an inch of breathing room in your world!

Why has she been around for twenty years? Because many people are tone-deaf! Listening to her shows that you’re “hip” “sensitive,” etc.

I guess it’s all a matter of opinion. I don’t think Bruce Springsteen can sing either, but he’s been around for years, too.

Call me a hater, but I think much of her appeal has to do with her appearance. She’s light-skinned and “exotic” looking. Come on now folks — if she looked like Gabby Sidhe, the young woman from “Precious,” would any of you listen to her?
