FG2BH Buzz Featuring Boris Kodjoe, Wale and David Agbodji

May 22, 2010

Boris Kodjoe, as previously reported on FG2BH, has a new upcoming lead actor TV gig in the new NBC drama series Undercovers. We are delighted to report on the new leaked trailer for Boris’s new TV venture produced by J.J. Abrams – the mastermind behind TV’s hits Felicity and Alias.  The show according to the following trailer is expected this Fall season on NBC. And we here at FG2BH would be tuning in!

Undercovers primarily  focus on a married couple (Steven and Samantha) rejoining the CIA after five years of living a typically ‘normal’ life. Boris and his co-star Gugu Mbatha-Raw also recently appeared on The Today Show to promote their new show. I think these two can make it the show work thanks to their chemistry. Did I also mention that Boris and Gugu are both from Africa? Boris represents Ghana from his father’s side and Gugu’s South African! Am I the only one loving the idea of two Black actors leading a DRAMA show on a major TV network??? The last show to do was Boris’s defunct Showtime series, Soul Food. Washington, D.C. native hip-hop artist Wale has a new music video for his single, “Diary” featuring former Floetry songstress Marsha Ambrosius. If you’re keeping up with Wale, he has thus far lifted as many as four singles which are “Pretty Girls”, “My Sweetie”, “Chillin'” featuring Lady Gaga, and “W.A.L.E.D.A.N.C.E.” off his debut record, Attention Deficit.I particularly enjoyed the spoken word segment towards the end of the clip. DEEP!

Current Calvin Klein’s lead male model David Agbodji landed himself (technically) amidst a fiery fashion blogosphere debate  (re: is it racist?) courtesy of his appearance in this May 2010 editorial for Interview magazine. Some fashion blogs particularly The Fashion Bomb andf Refinery 29 argue whether the editorial had a racist agenda. scan photos via MODELS.COM

My two cents: They decided to use the black models as a backdrop to feature the female White model in couture clothing. I saw it as art but from a social standpoint come on now Interview magazine they should know better. If anything the editorial could have used more ethnic models to get whatever agenda across far more better. But that’s just my two cents! You be the judge! (Quick tip: In each Mikael Jansson-snapshot, David’s the one wit the black shades. Here’s a friendly reminder of how good looking David is! 😛 )
