FG2BH Buzz: Shingai Shoniwa Covers Pride Magazine + Sade Gives Back + Genevieve Nnaji’s MUD Cosmetics AD Campaign

July 29, 2010

On the August 2010 cover edition of  PRIDE magazine is a Deenola London-clad Shingai Shoniwa, frontwoman of The Noisettes. I love that bold headline that Pride (a leading Afro-Caribbean female UK-based publication) tagged with Shingai“You Don’t Need Straight Hair To Be Successful or Sexy.” Props to Shop Liquorice!

Sade recently donated artwork for an auction in support of Action For Children. Great to see Sade lent her artwork to a great cause…

Sade Gives Back

Action for Children supports thousands of vulnerable youngsters across the UK as they embark upon their own personal transformational journeys. Whether it is a child in care, a disabled child, a young offender or a homeless child, every child has many challenges and situations to overcome to get to a place where they feel they are loved, safe or have achieved their goals.

On the music tip, Soldier of Love – the long awaited musical return of the UK-based band, has become the best selling R&B album in the first half of 2010, reports Mark’s R&B/Soul Blog! Fans who waited over 10 years for a new Sade album helped the album moved over 1.21 million units.

Check out the official AD campaign featuring current MUD Cosmetics spokesmodel Genevieve Nnaji that’s heating up the Nigerian blogosphere. (Thanks Uduak!)

Genevieve Nnaji for MUD Cosmetics AD Campaign

A MUD woman represents beauty, grace, elegance, as well as glamour. Genevieve epitomizes all of the above, as her glamour and yet understated style has such enduring appeal to women of all generations. Recently we were honored to team up with Bellezza Cosmetics and Spa, our retail partner in Nigeria, to do a photo shoot at our headquarters in Los Angeles with the very talented and beautiful Nollywood actress and model, Genevieve Nnaji. An immensely popular beauty icon and the only Nigerian actress to ever be profiled on Oprah, Genevieve has been the recipient of many awards throughout her career. Her film credits include starring roles in more than 80 Nollywood movies, including the hits Honey 1 and 2, and For Better For Worse 1 and 2.”

Geneveive took to her Twitter page to address positive reviews of the AD campaign: Good morning tweeties! Wooow!!! Woke up to loads of compliments on the MUD™ shoot. Thanks so much guys! Really glad y’all like it.

Props to all the FG2BH readers who sent us the photos and links!!!
