Naima Adedapo Gets Eliminated Off American Idol Season 10

April 6, 2011

Season 10 finalist Naima Adedapo was voted off the long running musical competition show, American Idol, by late March. Her elimination comes with great sadness as there will be no longer Ankara, African-inspired stage performance outfits to look forward to every Wednesday and Thursday nights on FOX. Naima was also the first American Idol contestant to bring reggae to the show. Her elimination can be viewed as a blessing in disguise because she can now focus her all on her two daughters (ages 3 and 1) and her Milwaukee, Wisconsin band R.A.S. Movement. Here’s a brief look-back on Naima’s ankara outfits made by her Senegalese friend Adama Bah.

For her last performance during Elton John Week, Naima performed a reggae-infused rendition of Elton John’s “I’m Still Standing.” Ultimately this performance caused her elimination from the reality series…alongside one of the show’s youngest contestants Thia Megia. The pair went on to appear on several TV shows including Live With Regis & Kelly post-elimination.
