Celestina Aladekoba Featured in Beyonce’s Run The World (Girls) Teaser Preview

May 4, 2011

When I first saw this teaser clip for Beyonce’s new hit single, “Run The World (Girls)”, I wonder if she’ll use Nigerian pop singer and dancer Celestina Aladekoba as one of her backup dancers. Rumor has it that Beyonce recruited over 200 African dancers for the video treatment – a rumor that got shut down thanks to the viral previews that’s all over YouTube. I’m glad my assumption of that Beyonce/Celestina connection was proved right when I spotted Celestina as of the female dancers featured in a 21 second teaser trailer for Beyone’s female empowerment/ club anthem “Run The World (Girls).” Celestina’s appearance is very brief but she appears three times in the clip! No word on any further role Celestina may play in the video treatment which is schedule to debut online and on TV soon! Check it out below…

As previously reported Celestina rose to fame when she appeared in Prince’s Black Sweat video and 50 Cent nicknamed her “Matrix” for her gravity-defining dance moves. Celestina, who goes just by her first name professionally, has worked with music’s biggest names like Usher, T-Pain, Chris Brown, and especially Jennifer Lopez who produced the MTV dance competition, “Dance Life”, a show that Celestina appeared on. Celestina now focus on her blossoming music career which she had the viral hit, Renegade. Follow Celestina on Twitter: @celestinarocks

Congrats, Celestina!

Update: It’s finally here! Check out the official video treatment for “Run The World (Girls).”

Are you interested in who inspired the dance moves in the beginning of the video? Beyonce’s dance director Frank Gatson, Jr. was moved by Mozambican dancers Tofo Tofo. Here’s the original video that inspired the Run The World dance moves. I think it’s great that Beyonce is looking to Africa for inspiration.

Frank Gatson, Jr. on Run the World choreography inspired by Tofo Tofo: “We prepared a lot for it. We had seen something on YouTube; we had seen these three guys from Africa, this Mozambique African dance troupe … we were like, ‘Wow, this is an amazing movement. We say, ‘Share the light, you sparkle brighter,’ and we share our light with a lot of new, creative people. I feel like we really nailed it and, again, my hats off to the Tofo Tofo guys [from Africa], ’cause none of us could imitate that. We had to bring them around to learn that [move], which is really, really interesting. They had such a great vocabulary of movement. hat was probably one of the most beautiful experiences for Beyoncé. They were so humbled,” he said. “It was hard finding them. They were really in a remote area; we had to get the embassy people involved. That was a process that took about two months or more. Beyoncé really loved them and I’m pretty sure we’ll see them again. It was magical.” (MTV News)

UPDATE: Check out the first televised performance of Run The World (Girls) at the 2011 Billboard Awards.
