Rihanna Spotted in Two African-Inspired Jackets from L.A.M.B. and Tina Kalivas

November 17, 2010

It’s safe to say that Rihanna got bitten by the African all over cotton fabric print fever! The “What’s My Name” singer was seen in not one but two African-inspired jackets this past week.

Rihanna was seen in this pleated L.A.M.B jacket from Gwen Stefani’s ankara-inspired Spring Summer 2011 collection while she appeared on Good Morning America to promote her fifth studio album, LOUD. The blue, white, red, gray and orange printed jacket is most definitely African-inspired! (The look’s featured in the collection as a dress but Rihanna opted for the jacket version!)

She performed her two hit singles off LOUDOnly Girl In The World and What’s My Name. Check out both performances below…

Rihanna performed on MTV’s The Seven (TRL replacement) in this ethnic print Tina Kalivas cropped jacket. The cotton fabric used for this Polyrhythms 2009 jacket was lifted from Ghana! (Thanks CIAAFRIQUE!)

It’s safe to say that countless celebrities such as Solange, Kelis, Dawn Richard, Gwen Stefani, Rachel Bilson, Oluchi, and Beyonce has been bitten by the African all over cotton fabric print fever!

Rihanna performed wearing a jacket from the 2009 collection of Tina Kalivas!
Tina Kalivas is a brilliant fashion designer! She learned the secrets of the trade working with Alexander McQueen and now she takes the world of Fashion by storm with a collection inspired to the Native Americans. Another designer going back to the past and old traditions to create. On Lancia TrendVisons’ blog you can see Totem, Tina Kalivas latest 10/11 autumn-winter collection.

Rihanna has incredible style. I learned that she goes online to seek what she’ll wear on and off the red carpet.

I’ll have to agree with you on that – Tina Kalivas is an excellent designer!
